Our Story

Ranchmount jackets are cut and sewn in Turkey by a workshop that has worked in leather and shearling outerwear since 1992. Then they come straight to you.Ranchmount heavyweight shearling winter jacket

The coat you keep.

Most winter coats are bought for a season and replaced the next. A shearling jacket is different. The leather settles into your shape, the wool stays warm, and the years only make it look better.

Ranchmount exists for people who would rather own one exceptional jacket than five forgettable ones.

Where it's made, and by whom.

Turkey has long been one of the great centers of leather and shearling work. Our jackets come from a single manufacturing partner there: a workshop of tailors from artisan families who have specialized in leather and shearling outerwear since 1992.

That is more than three decades of cutting hides, matching panels and finishing seams. It's the kind of skill you can't speed up or copy, and it's the reason a Ranchmount jacket feels different the first time you put it on.

Why shearling.

Shearling is one hide with two sides. Smooth leather outside keeps the wind out. Dense natural wool inside holds your warmth in. There is no padding to flatten and no synthetic fill to give up.

It's the same logic that kept pilots warm in unheated cockpits a century ago. Wool breathes, so you stay comfortable when it's bitter outside and when you step indoors.

Our standard.

Three decisions decide whether a jacket is merely good or worth keeping.

The hide

We work with premium shearling, including fine Merino wool, and every skin is selected for softness, density and consistency.

The cut

Patterns are laid out by experienced cutters so the grain runs the right way and the silhouette sits cleanly on the shoulder.

The finish

Seams, collars, cuffs and closures are completed by hand-finishing tailors, then checked before the jacket is packed.

Look closely.

The difference is in the detail: how the collar rolls, how the wool sits, how the seam holds.

From hide to your door.

  1. Selected

Skins are sorted for softness, thickness and consistency. Not every one is used.

  2. Cut

Each pattern is cut by hand to get the best from the grain and the wool direction.

  3. Sewn and finished

Master tailors assemble the jacket and finish the seams, collar, cuffs and closures.

  4. Inspected

Every jacket is checked for stitching, finish and fit before it ships.

  5. Delivered

Shipped direct to you in the USA, ready to wear the day it arrives.

Direct, by design.

We don't have flagship stores, wholesalers or a department-store markup to cover. Ranchmount jackets go from the workshop to you, so what you pay goes into the jacket and not into the supply chain around it.

Our promise to you.

  • Every jacket is inspected before it leaves the workshop.
  • Clear sizing guidance, and personal help if you're between sizes.
  • A straightforward return policy.
  • A real reply when you contact us.

Questions, answered.

Is it genuine shearling?

Yes. Ranchmount jackets are made from genuine shearling: real sheepskin with the natural wool left on, not faux shearling.

Where are the jackets made?

In Turkey, by a workshop of artisan tailors that has specialized in leather and shearling outerwear since 1992.

How do I find my size?

Each product page has a size guide. If you're unsure, contact us and we'll help you choose.

How do I care for shearling?

Store it on a wide hanger in a cool, dry place and let it dry naturally if it gets wet. Keep it away from direct heat, and use a professional leather cleaner rather than a washing machine.

What if it isn't right?

See our return policy for the full terms, or contact us and we'll sort it out.
